Residents in the Hyde Farm and Thornton Road areas will have received the leaflet below at the beginning of December. It is part of the ongoing consultation on the Our Streets programme which will deliver improvements to the streets in Thornton ward. Some schemes are already being taken forward – an improved pedestrian crossing on King’s Avenue, more effective speed measures on Clarence Avenue and extended sight lines at junctions on New Park Road – and over the next few months we will be working on some further ideas about making our streets more attractive.
The current consultation is an important one. It focusses on proposals for crossings on Thornton Road and Emmanuel Road, for a redesigned Hydethorpe/Radbourne junction and for enhanced traffic calming measures on Hydethorpe and Emmanuel Roads. The council wants to hear your views on these proposals and especially on the Thornton Road crossing where two alternative options are being put forward for your consideration. Your views on which you think is the better option will help us decide on which to take forward. So do have your say. Much more information is available on the council website at www.lambeth.gov.uk/ourstreets
The original deadline for responses was 10th January but, because of the holiday period, it has been extended to January 17th.
Please get in touch with one of us – Diana, Ed and Lib – if you have any queries.
