After a long campaign Ed, Diana and Lib have managed to have the sports pitch at Agnes Riley Gardens resurfaced.
The all-weather surface of the well-used football and basketball area had worn out and was becoming
dangerous. After raising its condition with council officials many times your local councillors won agreement to have it resurfaced which has now happened. Diana, who is a founding member of the Friends of Agnes Riley Gardens, said: ‘Despite huge central government cuts to the council’s budget we are doing our best to make sure that local people have space to get active or just relax in the park. Having installed the ponds a few years ago it’s great to see the pitch back in use and we hope to get the children’s play area improved in the future.’
