The Clapham Park ‘pop-up shop’, a fantastic new community space that will play host to a full programme of free entertaining activities throughout the summer was opened by the Mayor of Lambeth on Wednesday 31st July 2013.
Cllr Ed Davie said “Thanks to the last Labour government’s investment and Lambeth Council’s support there are hundreds of new and refurbished homes on the Clapham Park Estate. Though new and improved homes and the jobs created building them are vital, regeneration also has to be about building a stronger community and investing in the people that live here. That’s why councillors Diana Morris, lib Peck and I are so pleased that this pop-up shop has opened to provide great opportunities for people to come together, learn new skills and take part in community life. Although it will only be here for a few months I hope it is the start of a permanent improvement in the social life of this estate and we must make sure we build on the opportunities we have.”
The pop-up shop will also give local residents the opportunity to showcase their skills and business ideas.
Events will include
- Film making
- Fashion workshops
- Kiddie Kraft
- Job fair
- ‘Art for All’
- Survival DIY
- EID Celebration
