Lambeth Country Show, the unique event that showcases the very best that South London has to offer, has been confirmed as taking place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2012, Lambeth Council has announced.
The Lambeth Country Show is one of the most popular free days out anywhere in London, regularly attracting thousands of visitors. It has all the attractions of a traditional country fair, such as home grown vegetables, jams, chutneys and horticultural shows, but with a distinctly urban South London vibe.
Council officers will be working closely with local residents and community groups to develop this year’s show together, and a public meeting is being planned for April, with a date yet to be confirmed, for people who want to get involved and contribute their ideas and energy.
Residents will be kept updated about the program, events and activities via the council website www.lambeth.gov.uk. We will also endeavour to bring the latest news on the event to Thornton Life.
To give a boost to charities and community groups this year, the council will be removing charges for those groups that want to hire open space pitches. The council also plans to increase the space at the Show allocated to charities and community groups by around 15 per cent, to give more groups the opportunity to be involved.
