The new leisure centre on Clapham Manor Street has just opened it’s doors – and it’s twice as big as the old one!
Thornton residents can now go for a swim in one of the best swimming pools in London – thanks to your support for Labour. A fantastic new library, health centre and arts performance space will also be opening on Clapham High Street within weeks – and it hasn’t cost council taxpayers a penny!
The new centre houses a six lane swimming pool, a teaching pool, a fitness gym, a sports hall, studios for dance, yoga and martial arts and rooms for community groups and exercise classes. Thornton Labour councillors backed the proposals and are pleased that the plans have now come to fruition, with the centre adding to the wide range of leisure provision in the area.
Councillor Lib Peck said “We’re thrilled with the new facilities and especially pleased that school children in Thornton ward will be able to resume their swimming lessons in Clapham.”
Councillor Diana Morris welcomed the fact that the use of the facilities is affordable, particularly for children and older people – both can swim for just £1.
“Another example of Labour being on your side”, she said.
