Thornton’s councillors have urged people to back local projects as they seek votes to win cash backing.
The Clapham Park Project bike scheme and the Knight’s Youth Club are both bidding for £6,000 grants from Natwest Bank.
The bike scheme teaches young people basic mechanics skills and use their time to fix machineson the Clapham Park Estate in the ward.
Knight’s youth Centre is just outside of the ward but it provides activities for many of our young people.
Councillor Ed Davie said: ‘Both the bike project and Knights Youth Centre have been really important in giving our young people useful and fun things to do and equipping them with skills they can use to find jobs.
‘In these tough economic times its important to support them by voting for them in grant schemes like this – everyone has three votes so can vote for both.’
